MEET THE TEAM
Founder & Stylist
Amy Ledger
Hi, my name is Amy and I'm the founder and owner of Wang Doggy Day Spa. My passion is animal health and wellness, with 16 years working locally here at Warby St Vet Hospital as a Vet Nurse. My background is actually horses, but I love all animals.
I'm so proud of our passionate team, that we are well connected with others in the community, so we can help your dog live a long, healthy, and happy life as a much-valued member of your family.
In recent times I've completed several courses with Australian Online Courses; Dog Psychology & Training, and Dog Grooming. I enjoy learning as much as I can about dogs.
Outside of work... I love to travel with my family, and have new experiences and adventures (I'm always up for something fun!), I love my running and sport, and I genuinely like connecting with people. I've been able to pair my passion for helping others, with my passion for animal health and wellness. So grateful!
Stylist
Halena Hart
Hi, I'm Halena. Dogs have always been a big part of my life, having owned many breeds. I now have a Jackapoo named Lexi and a Cavoodle named Theodore (Teddy).
I spent over 25 years as a police officer and I needed a change. Retiring in 2021 I decided to enrol in a Diploma of Dog Grooming and Dog Behaviour.
I am dedicated to the nurturing of our fluffy clients. It can be a stressful experience for some, and I believe my role is to help develop their confidence in the salon. I enjoy assisting the stressed dogs with comfort and kindness using techniques that I continue to learn. It fills with me immense pride when a stressed, resistant or frightened dog grows to trust me and falls asleep in my hand, or wants to curl up in my arms!
I look forward to my continued growth and development within the amazing team while grooming your furry loved ones.
Stylist
Emma McKendry
Hi my name is Emma and I'm part of the grooming team here on Wednesdays. I work part time at Warby St Vets (where I met my boss, Amy). I am a fully qualified Vet Nurse graduated in 2020, and I completed a cert III in Pet Grooming in 2022.
I am an advocate for providing animals with the best Quality Of Life. Skin being the largest Organ in the body, is a great place to start! I believe in a healthy skin heathy coat attitude, advocating for regular bathing and proper hygiene. Regular Grooming is important for not only keeping their coat clean and healthy, but for minimising mats, reduce allergens and allow proper ventilation. Having a Vet nursing background I can detect abnormalities that some groomers could miss, giving you advice and recommendations to see your local vet.
I have 2 beautful dogs, Sophie (Border Collie) and Sadie (Maltese x Poodle). I also own a ginger cat named Frasier. In my spare time you'll find me in the garden, watching netflix, or working on one of my many crochet projects.
I enjoy getting to use my grooming skills and being able to help the dogs in our community through grooming.
Stylist
Nicole Oats
Hi, I'm Nicole. I'm a new member of this amazing team, but already feel at home. I have followed my passion for working with dogs since I can remember, and if I'm working with dogs, I'm happy! I am especially interested in dog behaviour and communication, eager to learn as much as I can to help people better connect with their dogs.
I completed an intensive hands on grooming course in 2008, and worked in some of Melbourne's biggest pet stores in retail and grooming, and managed Pets Domain here in Wangaratta.
Until it's recent closure, I worked at the Wangaratta RSPCA. Gaining skills and training in dog behaviour, handling techniques, communication, and fostering animals. I am very excited to be able to continue to help and work with dogs, supporting their well-being and connection with their owners.
Stylist
Gayle South
Hi, I'm Gayle. I've recently completed my Cert III in Pet Grooming. I live in Myrtleford and travel to Wangaratta 2 days per week. I also work a few days at a Nursery and enjoy volunteering for Landcare. I have previously travelled Australia and spent many years doing seasonal work. I am enjoying my time in the salon with the girls at Wang Doggy Day Spa learning a lot from the experienced and passionate team. I look forward to developing my skills and learning all I can about dog grooming.
Stylist
Airlie Preer
Hi I'm Airlie. I'm a new member of this team and have already enjoyed every second. I'm from Yarrawonga and travel to Wangaratta for work here once a week.
Dogs have always been a big part of my life, at home we have 4 of our own. I've always loved spending time with dogs so one day I decided to start a little dog washing business from my backyard. I would meet so many different breeds and a variety of personalities that made me love dogs even more. Someone said to me one day, "You'd make a great dog groomer!" And from there that's all I could think about. So in April of 2023 freshly out of school the year prior, I completed my course and started grooming and have been practicing ever since.
I am super confident in my skills but I always love learning new techniques and ideas, and I also love teaching others about things I found helpful or certain styles of grooming. My favourite styles being the teddy bear, asian fusion and any breed standard styles.
I love every minute of dog grooming and I always enjoy meeting new clients and creating a bond with them and their pups, as well as educating owners about everything they need to know about how to look after their fur friends.

Jess Harris
Howdy doodie! My name is Jess and I love dogs! All kinds of dogs, all sizes, shapes and personalities. I’ve been breeding Australian Silky Terriers for 9 years and more recently, Miniature Poodles, and my doggy family is the very core of my universe. I spent some time running my own dog walking business, which was just starting to incorporate washing and grooming when Amy found me and invited me to work in her new grooming salon, Wang Doggy Day Spa. What an opportunity to work with so many dogs! No one with a real passion for pups says no to that! I’m super excited to be meeting all the fur babies of Wangaratta and surrounds and their families.
I love everything about dogs, but my favourite topics to study (and keep an eye on with my own dogs) are nutrition, dental health and canine enrichment. Finding new ways to keep those doggy minds active and engaged is tons of fun!
I've completed an online dog grooming certificate and I'm enjoying upskilling in breed and styled grooms.
I also love to get out and about hiking and running, and when I have some spare time, training and riding horses.
Canine Myotherapist
Lindsay Edwards
I’m Lindsay owner of Canine Nurture. I am qualified in Canine Myofunctional Therapy, which is the treatment of a dog's soft tissues through massage and functional exercise. I was thrilled to hear that Amy wanted to bring a health and wellness hub for our dogs here to Wangaratta and couldn’t wait to get involved. I have a huge passion for dog health and well-being, looking at the bigger picture and working alongside other knowledgeable canine professionals to offer a holistic approach to my work.
I moved to the Wangaratta area 11 years ago from the U.K. and have settled here with my husband and young family. When I’m not treating dogs I can be found busy in the garden, adventuring with the kids or learning all I can about canine movement, health and behaviour (I’m addicted!!).
